AI NewsWire to offer finger-on-the-pulse on wide-ranging research news

SciencePOD to give professionals access to research news in real time

Dublin, 18 May 2021 – SciencePOD is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Horizon2020 grant under the first call of the STADIEM programme. STADIEM stands for Start-up Driven Innovation in European Media and consists of a piloting and acceleration programme, which brings together start-ups, scale-ups, investors and media organisations to foster the development of Next Generation Media solutions.

With the support of the STADIEM programme, SciencePOD is planning to create an AI NewsWire to radically change the way professionals, with a prior interest in research and innovation, access the latest updates. The newswire will rely on SciencePOD’s state-of-the-art summarising engine developed in partnership with Juan-Manuel Torres-Moreno, an eminent Natural Language Processing (NLP) and automatic summarisation specialist, based at the Laboratoire Informatique d’Avignon (LIA), Avignon Université, France.

“The pandemic has revealed a heightened interest of professionals and the wider public for science and technology news,” says Sabine Louët, SciencePOD Founder and CEO, adding, “Yet, until now, there has been no easy way of getting the latest news straight from the original research publications, on a wide scale.”

How the SciencePOD engine works with research news

Within seconds, the SciencePOD engine turns complex scientific research papers into clear, understandable summaries. In addition, the solution delivers key highlights that answer the media’s essential information-gathering questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? To make these discoveries accessible to non-experts, the SciencePOD solution delivers contextual information in the form of keywords, definitions of technical terms, and elucidation of acronyms.
